One of the questions we get asked a lot is "should I grade it"?
Well, every situation is different, but here's a handy dandy guide!
If you answer is:
1. "I want to maximize the possible profits from a sale"- Excellent! In order to best judge this, we suggest looking at comparisons on sold eBay listings between raw (ungraded) comic and slabbed (graded) copies of the same comic. If there's a prominent difference between the two, it might be worth grading!
Keep in mind grading fees change depending on the book, but start at $50, so any and all financial decisions should factor in that cost. If it's an appreciable difference in pricing between grades, feel free to bring the book in to the store to get a general idea of the grade range to help. Generally if the potential benefit is less than $50, we don't recommend grading, if it's more than that, we do.
2. "I want to protect it!" Great! Preservation is the primary goal of grading and grading will protect the book better than any other option available. It's probably worth grading.
3. "It's personally important to me, i want to display it!" Awesome! It's probably worth grading.
